Madonna
This was an image I drew many, many years ago when my children were still small. I loved the idea of a nursing mother Madonna because I had never seen one before. But of course, how else did Mary feed the baby Jesus. For me, it is a sweet picture.

Be Kind Anyway
Wow, it has been over a month since I posted. That's what happens to me during Show season, just too busy. I did a big show in Portland and then back to back with another here in Spokane and some special orders in between.
This is one of the special orders that I completed recently for a customer on canvas.

Native American Marriage Blessing
This little design has been a year in the making! I knew in my head what I wanted it to look like but I did not have enough photoshop skills to create it. Thanks this week to a lesson from Betsy Ward, teacher extrodinaire! I learned more about softening the airbrush and then I purchased a photoshop brush that made little dots. Voila, my Native American Wedding Blessing finally had a background.

A Personal Note
At the same time I have been creating artwork for my blog and to sell at my shows, I have been taking a two year course in Spiritual Direction. I am now registered with Spiritual Direction International and available to work with people seeking Spiritual companionship. We call it Spiritual companionship because basically we offer compassionate listening to another's story as they seek to be closer to God or to the Divine in their lives. I will listen with my heart.

New Canvas Art
Hi, this is my first venture into the world of canvas. Seeing my work reproduced on a new medium was exciting. I was really pleased with how it turned out. I made two to sell, I wonder how they will be received??

What you Dream Flower
This is a photo that I have been playing. I took the picture and then added it to a program called ProCreate. There I changed and painted the color of the background to pink and added some pink into the flower and changed the texture of the petals. Then added my calligraphy on top.
"What you dream, you create,
What you think, you attract,
What you imagine, you become."

Repainted bird and success
Here is the finished saying of success with a repainted bird and leaves. The leaves helped out the composition of the bird, I think. Have a good weekend everyone.

Little Bird
Today I painted a picture of a little bird for a new saying. The completed saying will have to wait for a couple of days but here is the bird. I hope you have a great day!

Guest Artist, Pottery Place Plus, Spokane, WA
This month I was asked to be one of the guests artists at a local artisan cooperative. On the first Friday of every month, all the wineries and art galleries are open late for people to mingle and go from one to the other. I used to belong to this gallery and it is very fun to be a guest artist for the month of October. The second photo shows some of my handmade books. Have a great week, everyone.

Calendar 2013
Today in my studio I finished my 2013 calendar. Every year I design 12 different months and each year has its own theme. I pick all the quotes to match the theme and then I watercolor a picture to go with each saying. This year the theme is Blessings. Have a great week!
Words from Mother Teresa
Yesterday I put up the picture of Mother Teresa but this is my favorite of her sayings. I thought you might like to see this included with her picture.

Mother Teresa
Hi, everyone! This weekend I worked on some projects for my Spiritual Direction class. I had to pick a topic of a person who inspired me and I picked Mother Teresa of Calcutta. An amazing woman who gave so much of her heart. I included a picture of her for my brochure. Drawing people is not my speciality but her it is anyway. Have a great Monday!

Affirmation Card #1
I guess I did not explain my affirmation card project very well. There are 31 positive sayings in each little box. the size is 3.5 x 5. The number 31 means that you can read a different one each day for a month and then start all over. I always put this one about love for the very first card because I love reading about love and acknowledging how important it is in my life. Have a great day.

Here is the part 2, 100 boxes. I glued the cover artwork on top and a business card on the bottom of each one. Now to fill them.
31 Affirmations
Here is my dining room table filled with 31 piles of 100 each of my new affirmation cards. Since I am having dinner company on Sunday night and actually have to use this table, I guess I better get at it??? Have a great weekend, everyone!

Affirmations
Working in my studio, just no photos to share yet. Yesterday, today and probably tomorrow, I am working on relettering and new art for my 31 affirmation cards. They come in a little box so you can have a positive message everyday. I will post a photo when I have one. Have a great Wednesday!

Struggles with a Heart -- Studio Notes
This week I was trying to paint an abstract heart and I must have done 5 of them in watercolor. I finally decided that the colors were not as vibrant as I had wanted so yesterday I purchased some acrylic inks made by Liquitex. They were great and kept the intense color that I wanted. See what you think?

Today I ordered mats from Redimat in California in preparation for my Fall shows and sent some of my Hawaiian greeting cards to a friend in Hawaii. This is an orchid lei I painted about 3 years ago in Hawaii. Aloha!

Monday, July30, Computer Art
This is my first drawing solely on the Ipad. This program is called Paper by 53. It has cool little journals that you fill with drawings. It is not too sophisticated and does not use very many tools but it is fun to do. Just trying to teach myself new skills. As for this afternoon projects, I have to pay bills. ): Not at all artistic. Have a great day!

Studio Notes - July 29, 2012
Hi, Everyone! I decided to change my format of my blog a little bit since I have been so remiss in posting blogs. As I work, I am going to share what I am working on. Today I designed a new blog header that you will see when you open my blog and I am working to finish my calendar, add some new sayings to my line, and working on a baby baptism plaque. And if you have noticed that not only haven't I posted lately, I have not been commenting on your blogs either. When I used to open my blog, I would see all of your blogs on the left side of my screen. Blogger changed their format and now I don't see them anymore. Don't you just hate it when something is fixed that was never broken in the first place??? Can anyone help me with this problem?
In the last week, I designed a new marriage saying for a customer and painted a rose wedding bouquet. I have always wanted to paint a rose bouquet, that was fun. Have a great Sunday!

Hello World
It has been so long since I have done any artwork, much less blogged. In the meantime, we have sold a house and moved back to Washington. So much to do, so little time. (:
I received a name commission for two confirmations and in the middle of working on them, I used this verse. I will post the finished pieces when they are completed. Here is the verse: Have a great week, everyone!

Persistence collage
Thanks to some photoshop lessons from my sweet neighbor, Donna, I have been creating lately. This started with tiny purple dots, then a grunge layer of teal over that, then white grids, then white swirl, teal swirl, and one of my painted flowers, a calla lily. Then I added the words of persistence. It was so fun to do, I hope you like it. xoxo
